From the start, we have believed it’s important to be clear about the way we do business and the positive impact we have on the world.
At Causeway Energies we are committed to playing our part in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. We support them.
In what we do for our customers and communities we strive to have a material impact on Climate Action (SDG 13), Clean and Affordable Energy (SDG 7), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11) and Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9). These goals are central to Causeway Energies’ vision and mission and we drive this action forward through our Pioneering Spirit.
In how we work as a team, and do business with others, we are guided by our Considerate Soul and Ethical Impact values and through these actively support other SDG goals including Good Health and Well-Being (SDG3), Reducing Inequalities (SDG10) and Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8).
How we support a more prosperous planet for all.
Causeway Energies’ closed-loop geothermal system using amplification by electricity for heating and cooling produces 10 times less greenhouse gases than a gas-fired system in countries with similar renewable electricity generation to the UK. As electricity decarbonises and efficiency increases this will approach 100 times less greenhouse gas emissions. We don’t just want to supply energy though, we want to support our customers to use their energy more efficiently. Increasing energy efficiency is a fundamental part of decarbonisation. Heat is less transparent and less well understood than electricity. Causeway Energies will change that.
Causeway Energies and our approach will play a significant role in increasing the share of renewable energy in the global mix as it addresses the critical task of decarbonising heat for commercial and industrial processes. With low enthalpy1 geothermal potential found everywhere on the planet, we can expand the accessibility to clean and reliable energy.
1 a thermodynamic quantity equivalent to the total heat content of a system. It is equal to the internal energy of the system plus the product of pressure and volume.
As a local and clean energy solution, closed-loop geothermal can be deployed within the urban environment without impacting air quality, supporting Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11). The small surface footprint of our closed-loop system, approximately 100 times less than a solar plant for a similar thermal output, minimizes the impact of supplying heating and cooling in sensitive areas, contributing to Life on Land (SDG15). We can deploy and operate with minimal impact to the environment around us.
We develop quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure delivering locally sourced energy for commerce and industry, reducing cost and increasing energy security. We work across international technical communities to support the wider research and development of innovations that can improve the efficiency and economic viability of geothermal energy everywhere.
